Abstract

Traffic conditions in the city of Surabaya are of concern to road users due to the increasing number of vehicles compared to road infrastructure. During rush hour or the peak of heavy traffic in the morning and evening, many large and small vehicles pass on each of the roads at this intersection which causes the roads to become congested so that they often cause traffic jams. Based on these conditions, this study aims to calculate the highest traffic volume at the intersection of Jalan Mastrip, Jalan Wiyung, Surabaya City. This study used the 1997 MKJI method by conducting a traffic survey on the number of vehicles passing for 3 days, namely Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, to calculate the amount of traffic volume, intersection capacity, and degree of saturation. Based on the research results, the highest traffic volume was obtained at the intersection of Jalan Mastrip – Wiyung, Surabaya City, which occurred on Friday at 16.00-19.00 WIB. Jalan Mastrip (North) is 2164 pcu/hour, Jalan Wiyung (West) is 127 pcu/hour and Jalan Mastrip (South) is 1712 pcu/hour. The results of the calculation of the existing performance with the 344M intersection type Jalan Mastrip (North) with an intersection capacity of 2221 pcu/hour, a degree of saturation of 0.97, and a queue length of 149 m. Jalan Wiyung (West) with an intersection capacity of 130 pcu/hour, degree of saturation of 0.97, and a queue length of 29 m. Jalan Mastrip (South) with an intersection capacity of 1757 pcu/hour, degree of saturation of 0.97, and a queue length of 183 m. Keywords : Intersections, MKJI 1997, Results.
