Abstract
Jaran Bodhag is a derivative of another art that existed earlier, namely Jaran Kencak. It's just that Jaran Bodhag doesn't use a real horse but an imitation horse made of rattan and wood that resembles a horse's head (DISPOPAR, 2021). has the meaning of dancing with an artificial horse made of a rice lid container. This art grew close to the community and as a result of its development, Jaran Bodhag art was designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Indonesia by the Minister of Education and Culture on October 17, 2014. Jaran Bodhag has a long history of development and is almost extinct due to the eroding era of modernization. On the other hand, with this appreciation, Jaran Bodhag did not only receive a written award, but how this artistic step also has the potential to become the identity of Probolinggo City and continue to be preserved for the next generation. This preservation is also a step for the City Government of Probolinggo to introduce Jaran Bodhag art to the younger generation through coaching and competition activities. Head of Education and Culture Office of Probolinggo City, Drs. Moch. Maskur, M.Pd. conveyed, this activity was an effort by the Government of the City of Probolinggo through the Office of Education and Culture in an effort to preserve and manage cultural diversity, especially fostering history and traditions in the City of Probolinggo (Widjanarko, 2020).
