Abstract
The research presented is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach that focuses on the city of Madiun and aims to identify and describe the internal and external environmental factors that influence the development of PSC (Pahlawan street center) tourism and also the right strategy in the process of developing PSC (Pahlawan street center) tourism. as a tourist destination and a new icon in the City of Madiun. The results of the study show that internal environmental factors have the most dominant influence on the development of Pahlawan Street Center in terms of strength, namely the attractiveness and tourism potential of the area is authentic and not owned by other regions and promotional activities and events from the City Government which are still being carried out and held in the area while in terms of its weaknesses, the Pahlawan Street Center duplicates the Malioboro Jogjakarta pedestrian tour and the facilities in that area are still not supportive. From external environmental factors, the most influential opportunity is the full support of the Madiun City Government which consistently develops the Pahlawan Street Center area, while the most influential threat is competitive tourism market competition between regions and rapidly changing tourism trends. The priority strategies that can be implemented in the development of Pahlawan Street Center as tourism and a new icon for the City of Madiun are Improving the quality and maintaining the originality of tourist destinations, maximizing the holding of large events and tourism promotions, adding supporting facilities in tourist areas, and consistently conducting community empowerment to present human resources. excellence in the field of tourism management.
