Abstract

Humans are social beings or creatures by nature social. Humans as social beings are humans who interact with each other. Conflicts over housing compensation issues regardless of relatives. Even with their own siblings they will be firm with their respective choices which results in their relationship experiencing problems because of this. Likewise with fellow mudflow victims who are not blood related, including the mud victim residents who used to live in Kedungbendo, Tanggulangin, Sidoarjo. They will stick with their respective arguments regarding compensation for taking a house in Kahuripan or not. This research aims to find out the form of communication patterns using WhatsApp as a social glue between Lapindo mudflow victims (to Lapindo mudflow victims who used to live in Kedungbendo village). There are 3 ways, namely Chatting grub as an intermediary for nostalgia and light jokes, Chatting grub as an exchange of information, Chatting grub as an intermediary for implementing meet-ups for the victims of the Lapindo mudflow. It was enough to rekindle their relationship which had been tenuous due to problems with full cash compensation or with the Kahuripan Nirwana house.
