Abstract
The mass media is one of the platforms that is very influential in shaping the perspective of society. The mass media often depicts women as weak, powerless and gentle. In contrast to men who are referred to as people who are powerful and have high positions. The depiction of women in the mass media is considered very detrimental and has an impact on their individual lives. The gender bias that haunts the mass media is related to the low level of women's involvement in the world of journalists. The existence of female journalists in the mass media is very rare, given the many obstacles that come from both external and internal. This study aims to determine the writing style of women Retna Christa in the Disway daily in the lifestyle segment. Retna Christa is a female journalist writing on the lifestyle segment of the daily Disway which shapes the discourse of female journalist writing style. This study uses a qualitative method using Sara Mills' Critical Discourse Analysis. Sara Mills looks at how Subject-Object positions are displayed in a text. Data sources were collected through documentation and observation studies from five articles written by Retna Christa. The results of the research show that Retna Christa's writing is able to describe women well without any element of women's marginalization. The use of language has a positive connotation so that it can empower women through writing. Women are described as having the freedom to choose and determine for themselves. So that they can fight the negative stigma and get out of the shackles of entrenched patriarchy. Keywords: Mass Media, Female Journalists, Critical Discourse Analysis
