Abstract
In carrying out public services, it is necessary to apply the principles of goodgovernance. The concept of good governance arises due to the ineffectiveness of theperformance of government officials who have been trusted as administratorsofpublic affairs. Good governance comes from the main European language, namelyGubernare and was adopted into English to become Govern with the meaningSternor or commonly referred to as driving or controlling. Related to the title of the research that I did was the applicationof theprinciples of good governance in public services at the Maronge District office, Sumbawa Regency, with the aim of knowing the application of the principlesofgood governance, supporting factors and obstacles in public services. This research was carried out at the Maronge District office, Sumbawa Regencyusing a descriptive qualitative research method, data collection was carriedout bymeans of interviews, observations, and documentation. Meanwhile, the sourcesinthis study were the Camat, staff/employees of the Maronge District Office, andthepeople of Maronge District. The results of the study show that the principles of good governanceintheMaronge sub-district office generally work quite well on the indicatorsofresponsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, and accountability. While the other twoindicators, namely Justice and Transparency, have not been maximized, becauseininterviews with the community there were still employees who lacked discipline, had made mistakes in service and were not transparent or open in providinginformation.
