Abstract

Basically the code of ethics for community media is very important and has indeed been regulated in the Broadcasting Law No. 32 of 2002 in Article 24(1) that every community broadcasting institution is required to have a code of ethics and rules that are known by community members. This means that the radio community is required to have rules as a form of self-regulation to regulate radio operational mechanisms. In this study, researchers used Immanuel Kant's Deontological Ethics Theory and Habermas's Theory of Communicative Action to find out how the code of ethics is applied to Rajamuni Radio, especially during broadcast/on air activities. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive research type with a constructivism paradigm. For data collection techniques, researchers used in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study indicate that Radio Rajamuni has implemented a code of ethics in broadcasting on air activities, which includes; ethics for playing songs, ethics for quoting/reading info, prohibition of backbiting, language ethics, speaking ethics, broadcaster and listener communication ethics, and tausiyah playback ethics. All members of the community comply with these rules and if there are those who break them, the form of ethical enforcement is only a kind of regulation. The findings of this study are that the mechanism for implementing the code of ethics at Rajamuni Radio, from making rules to enforcing ethics, only relies on one person who is the elder and is considered to know the world of broadcasting the most. This figure is Cak Pendik or Efendi Sudjarwo as the founder of Radio Rajamuni. Keywords: Code of Ethics, Community Media, Implementation, Rajamuni Radio.
