Abstract

This study aims to find out how the condition of online motorcycle taxi income distribution in Sawahan District, Surabaya City. Inequality in income distribution or economic inequality and poverty rates are two major problems faced by many developing countries, including Indonesia. The government has also made efforts to adopt policies to improve community economic development, because one of the ways to increase income distribution is by implementing economic development. Economic growth is one of the goals to be achieved in the development process. Especially in terms of supporting facilities such as transportation facilities. Means of transportation can provide transfers from one place to another with a fast time. The existence of an online application-based transportation breakthrough, namely Gojek, which combines transportation services with communication technology in the Indonesian transportation world, makes it easy for people to carry out their mobility every day. The higher the mobility of people in using online transportation services, the greater the income that will be received by online motorcycle taxi drivers. The size of the income received is one indicator in measuring inequality of income distribution. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The type of data used in this research is qualitative data, while the data source used in this research is primary data. The analytical method used is the Gini Ratio model and the Lorenz Curve. The results of this study indicate that there is low income inequality for Gojek drivers in Sawahan District, Surabaya City, which is 0.16. For the percentage of income recipients for Gojek drivers, the first 20% class is 12.08%, for the second 20% class is 16.57%, for the third 20% class is 19.19%, for the fourth 20% class is 23.4%, and for the fifth 20% class of 28.76%. So it can be concluded that the condition of income distribution for Gojek drivers in Sawahan District, Surabaya City is at a low or even level of inequality.
