Abstract

PT. Niramas Pandaan Sejahtera (NPS) is a subsidiary of PT. Niramas Utama (INACOFOOD) which is engaged in food and beverages. PT. NPS produces several products spread across the market. In addition to producing its own products, PT. NPS also received some of product from PT. Niramas Utama and some of affiliated companies. With so many products being produced and temporarily stored in warehouses. PT. NPS should have an Information System to help employees for managing incoming and outgoing goods from the warehouse. Because they still use manual processes in storing goods, warehouse operators still have a problem such as irregular arrangements of goods on warehouse shelves, like placing goods in empty spaces or shelves. For this reason, this research is intended to assist warehouse operators in the process of storing goods in a structured and orderly manner. This research was conducted to produce a warehousing information system or Warehouse Management System using genetic algorithms to determine the most optimal location for storing goods on warehouse shelves. This research focuses on how to find the most optimal layout of goods based on the nature/character of the goods. The nature/character of an item is represented as a gene that will be genetically processed to get an individual or a solution to the problem.
