Abstract

Air merupakan sumber kebutuhan pokok yang digunakan untuk bertahan hidup dalam rangka memenuhi kebutuhan setiap makhluk hidup. Sama halnya dengan makhluk hidup lainnya, manusia membutuhkan air untuk keberlangsungan hidup antara lain untuk mandi, minum, mencuci dan lain sebagainya. Di negara Indonesia, pelayanan pendistribusian air bersih diselenggarakan oleh pemerintah melalui Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum (PDAM). PDAM mempunyai cara untuk mengetahui pemakaian jumlah air bersih yang digunakan oleh penduduk dengan memasang meteran pada pipa yang masuk ke rumah-rumah penduduk. Selanjutnya, setiap perhitungan satu bulan akan dilakukan pengecekan oleh petugas PDAM yang mendatangi rumah-rumah penduduk dan melakukan pencatatan volume air yang telah digunakan pada masing-masing rumah penduduk. Selain itu, PDAM juga akan melakukan perhitungan terhadap penggunaan air selama satu bulan tersebut dengan mengalikan harga setiap meter kubiknya menurut ketentuan yang telah ditetapkan berdasarkan tipe pengguna jasa air itu sendiri. Cara tersebut dirasa kurang efektif untuk memberikan informasi kongkrit kepada konsumen PDAM. Hal ini masih menimbulkan beberapa permasalahan dalam pencatatan menggunakan cara tersebut. Bahkan, sering kali terdapat beberapa kekeliruan pada saat pencatatan. Seringkali data yang digunakan dalam perhitungan tidak relevan dikarenakan terjadi perbedaan yang mengakibatkan konsumen merasa dirugikan. Hal ini dapat menurunkan tingkat kepercayaan konsumen dalam menggunakan PDAM dan menyebabkan perasaan curiga terhadap penyedia jasa air tersebut. Dalam hal ini, penulis mencoba menawarkan solusi untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, yaitu dengan membuat alat monitoring dengan mengukur volume air yang digunakan dengan studi kasus di rumah makan Geprek Kak Rose Dengan ini, penulis memanfaatkan Internet of Things (IoT) menggunakan sensor alat pengukuran kubik air yang dipakai dan bisa terhubung dengan perangkat pintar (smartphone).
