Abstract

Film Sebagai salah satu bentuk komunikasi media massa, film merupakan bentuk dari produk yang menggambarkan suatu persepsi sudut pandang dari beberapa golongan maupun ideologi tertentu di masyarakat. Persepsi kita terhadap film itu tadi dapat dikatakan bahwa film memiliki ideologi untuk menggambarkan suatu cerita agar masyarakat dapat menangkap pesan yang disampaikan dengan baik melalui film tersebut. Salah satunya yakni penyampaian bentuk pesan ketidakadilan gender berupa unsur Misogini yang direpresentasikan ke dalam sebuah film. Salah satu film yang akan digunakan unit observasi yakni film yang berjudul Brimstone yang dirilis pada tahun 2017 serta disutradarai oleh Martin Koolhoven. Dalam Penelitian ini, peneliti menganalisis unsur Misogini di dalam film Brimstone menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan analisis semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce serta teori segitiga makna atau triangle of meaning yang terdiri melalui tiga elemen yaitu sign (tanda), object (acuan tanda), dan interpretant (penggunaan tanda) yang menganalisis unsur Misogini dari dalam Film Brimstone. Berdasarkan hasil analisis pada penelitian, unsur Misogini dalam film Brimstone disini berupa tindakan kekerasan fisik, intimidasi, dan pelecehan seksual yang dilakukan terhadap perempuan dan juga penggambaran peran pada tokoh perempuan yang digambarkan secara negatif yakni sebagai pelacur pada film tersebut.
