Abstract

Scheduling is the process of planning and determining operational time as part of the overall work process within a certain period of time. Scheduling work shifts in companies is an important thing to pay attention to, considering that shift scheduling aims to regulate employee working hours in order to increase employee productivity so that it has a positive impact on both employee and the company, without causing significant fatigue. This study aims to examine the application of genetic algorithms to the development of the company's work shift scheduling sistem. In the scheduling sistem developed by the researcher, it still involves employee of a company to obtain a work shift schedule that is automatically generated, so that the employee right to choose his day off according to the specified number of holidays can be fulfilled. With this research, it is hoped that it can be useful in obtaining variations in the work shift scheduling model of a company's employee, increasing efficiency and time effectiveness in preparing employee shift schedules, and reducing the probability of clashing schedules in the process of preparing work shift schedules. Genetic algorithm is a technique to find the optimal solution of a problem that has many solutions. This technique will search from several solutions obtained until getting the best solution according to predetermined criteria or what is called the fitness function. It can be concluded that the application of genetic algorithms in the development of the company's scheduling sistem has an effect on the process of obtaining the best solution, so that it can be used as a reference as a sistem for arranging shift schedules in the company.
