Abstract
PT. Harapan Sejahtera Karya Utama is a company located at Jalan Kutilang No.25 Dusun Minggir Larangan, Candi District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java Province. This company is engaged in the production of plastic bags by using a 3 shift working hour system. In shift 1 starting at 06.00 – 14.00, followed by shift 2 at 14.00 – 22.00, and shift 3 from 22.00 – 06.00 with 1 hour rest. PT. Harapan Sejahtera Karya Utama has difficulty meeting demands from consumers because production workers have excessive physical and mental workloads that can affect production results, resulting in fatigue so that they cannot maximize their work properly. This study aims to measure the physical and mental workload received by production workers during shift 2 working hours with a total of 13 people. The method used to measure the physical workload of workers is Cardiovascular Load or abbreviated as CVL. Meanwhile, to measure mental workload, using the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index method or abbreviated as NASA-TLX. The results showed that the greatest physical workload was felt by Jumiatun workers at the cutting station with a CVL percentage value of 63.12%, so it was in the rather heavy category so that information was allowed to work in a short time. Meanwhile, the results of the measurement of mental workload were felt by Anam workers at the packing station with a NASA-TLX score of 91 in the very high category so improvements were needed. Improvements in work activities for Jumiatun workers are wearing gloves to make it more safety and minimize hands exposed to cutting machines. While the improvement of work activities for Anam workers is by adding lighting in the work area to make it look clearer and more comfortable. Keywords : Physical and Mental Workload, CVL, NASA-TLX
