Abstract

The case of Reynhard Sinaga, who raped many men in England, has become the main topic of coverage by various online mass media, including TEMPO.Co from Indonesia and BBC.Co.Uk from England. The two media have different coverage focuses. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods, documentation techniques as data collection by framing analysis Zongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. Based on the results of the analysis of syntactic structure, script structure, thematic structure, and rhetorical structure, the results of the Reynhard Sinaga case in both media obtained the following findings. Between Tempo.Co and BBC.Co.Uk both reported the Reynhard Sinaga case, but the framing of events was different. Tempo.Co discussed in great detail the background of the perpetrator's family, while BBC.Co.Uk did not discuss it at all. In addition, Tempo.Co framed Reynhard as a wealthy Indonesian citizen, a graduate of the University of Indonesia who was smart and did not specifically discuss victims. Meanwhile, BBC.Co.Uk really framed Reynhard as a very evil figure and framed the victim in detail as a victim who suffered a lot.
