Abstract

This research is hedonism lifestyle problems for college students. The purpose of this study to determine whether there is a relationship between self-esteem with hedonism trends lifestyle college student in university of 17 august 1945 surabaya. Data collection method in this study uses purposive random sampling technique. Data collection is used by giving the scale of self-esteem and hedonism trends lifestyle college student. The results of the retrieval were subjected to 100 individuals on correlation techniques used to determine the relationship between the variables X (Self-Esteem) and Y (hedonism trends lifestyle) is to use product moment correlation technique using SPSS 20.0 for windows software. Based on the calculation of product moment correlation in this study obtained value rxy = 0.735 at p = 0.034 (p ≤ 0.05). This shows there is a positive relationship between self-esteem with hedonism trends lifestyle college student, where the level of relationship that occurs is great. Based on the results of this study, the hypothesis of research that states "There is a positive relationship between self-esteem with hedonism trends lifestyle college student" is acceptable. It means that the more positive self-esteem the more positive the hedonism trends lifestyle is owned by college student, and rather if the more negative self-esteem will be more negative hedonism trends lifestyle of college student.
