Abstract
Online media has a significant contribution in supporting the feminist movement because it is used as a means to spread a gender perspective. The various information presented can be a reference for people to think and act. Therefore, this research aims to interpret the messages and discourse that developed in the news text which contained information about the call for the #YukBukaSuara campaign on the Tempo.co news portal page, March 7 – 8 2022 edition. The methodology used in this research is qualitative with Sara Mills’ Critical Discourse Analysis approach. Discourse analysis proposed by Sara Mills focuses on seeing how the position of the subject-object and the position of the reader is displayed in the text. Pieces of sentences that imply meaning regarding violence and oppression of women are used as the unit of analysis in this research. The results of this research show the existence of feminist struggles against patriarchal ideology which has so far restrained women from pursuing careers in the public sphere. The subject’s position tries to retell the existence of the feminist struggle to free itself from the shackles of patriarchal ideology. Meanwhile, the position of the object explains the feminist struggle that still exists today so that more and more women have the courage to break down their oppression and silence by using their intelligence and abilities so they can show their existence amidst the domination of patriarchal ideology. And the reader’s position is as if invited to participate and feel how women’s struggle against the domination of patriarchal culture which has so far restrained women in developing their abilities in the public sphere.
