Abstract

The internet as a new media that can be accessed anytime and anywhere is a development of information technology. This convenience affects activities in human life, activities that are usually carried out in the real world are applied to digital media, one of which is applying for a job. LinkedIn social media presents a profile that displays curriculum vitae (CV) data. As we know CV is a file intended to apply for a job. In order for recruiters to have an impression of a LinkedIn account, it is necessary to build personal branding on the LinkedIn profile. The way PT Kisun Kreasi Digital freelancers manage impressions uses impression management theory from Edward Jones, namely the strategies of ingratiation, exemplification, intimidation, supplication, and self-promotion. Through a qualitative approach that uses the phenomenological method to find out the meaning of using LinkedIn based on the experiences of the informants. Research subjects or informants were selected using purposive sampling by determining the criteria for selected informants, namely LinkedIn account owners Rizqi Pratama Ramadhani, Aris Nurcahyo, and M.Ali Shodikin. Test the validity of the data using triangulation techniques. Descriptive data analysis technique to describe in depth the use of LinkedIn social media related to the phenomenon of personal branding by freelancers based on their experiences. The results of the study show that impression management applied by freelancers can be done through LinkedIn social media account profiles.
