Abstract

The loss of a spouse can affect the life of someone left behind. The addition of new responsibilities and roles as a single parent besides the sadness of being abandoned by a spouse makes men experience a slump. Thus it is important for men to have resilience skills to be able to survive and rise from difficult life events. This research focuses on how the description of resilience in men whose spouses have left them in Tambakrejo Village, Malang so that it can be said to be resilient. This study used purposive sampling with three subjects whose criteria had been determined. This study uses a qualitative method with the type of descriptive phenomenological research (PFD). Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is phenomenological analysis with six stages from Giorgi. The credibility of the research is determined by triangulating the data sources. The results showed that the resilience of men whose spouses had died in Tambakrejo Village, Malang was at a moderate level. This is consistent with the results of research using descriptive phenomenological analysis that has been carried out which proves that participants in the study can be resilient to the loss of their spouse that they are experiencing.
