Abstract

The phenomenon of long-distance marriages is no stranger to Indonesia. The reason is that many married couples have to undergo long-distance marriages due to work or other demands and it is at this point that the desire is needed to continue the relationship for a long time. Of course, when you are in a long-distance relationship, you will not escape fights resulting from a lack of communication, lack of trust in your partner, or openness to your partner. If this is allowed, it will lead to the destruction of a relationship or a fight. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between marital commitment and trust in married couples who are in a long-distance relationship. The subjects in this study were 100 husbands and wives who were or had had long-distance relationships. The data collection technique used was a Likert scale and the measurement tool used was the marriage commitment scale from Rusbult (1998) and the trust scale from David Richo (2010). The results of this study using the product moment test obtained a score of 0.388 with a significance of p = 0.001 (p <0.05), which means that there is a significant relationship between marriage commitment and trust. It can be concluded that the strength of the marriage commitment is influenced by the amount of trust in the partner. Keywords : Marriage Commitment, Trust, Long Distance Marital Relations
