Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikan adanya korelasi positif antara variabel fear of missing out dengan variabel kecenderungan kecanduan media sosial pada remaja. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 100 siswa dan siswi dari SMP X di Gresik yang berusia 13 – 16 tahun. Teknik sampling dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan IBM Statistics versi 25 for windows. Hasil uji korelasi teknik non parametric Spearman Rho diperoleh koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,671 dengan signifikasi 0,000 (<0,05). Berdasarkan hasil uji korelasi tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat korelasi positif yang signifikan dengan tingkat hubungan yang kuat antara variabel fear of missing out dengan variabel kecenderungan kecanduan media sosial. Artinya hubungan yang positif menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi fear of missing out maka semakin tinggi kecenderungan kecanduan media sosial pada remaja. Begitupun sebaliknya, semakin rendah fear of missing out maka semakin rendah kecenderungan kecanduan media sosial pada remaja.
