Abstract

Proses penyaringan dalam memperoleh suatu pekerjaan di Indonesia saat ini sangat ketat. Hal tersebut menambah banyaknya pengangguran yang merupakan salah satu permasalahan yang cukup besar di Indonesia, terlebih lagi pengangguran terdidik. Tingginya jumlah pengangguran di Indonesia merupakan masalah ketenagakerjaan yang menggambarkan banyaknya lulusan perguruan tinggi yang tidak sesuai dengan kriteria tenaga kerja yang dibutuhkan di lapangan. Mahasiswa yang hendak lulus perlu memiliki rencana karir, sehingga ketika lulus sudah memiliki tujuan atau bidang pekerjaan yang sesuai dengan bidangnya dan telah membekali diri dengan berbagai keterampilan atau kompetensi yang menunjang karir nantinya. Memiliki rencana karir yang tepat akan mengantarkan mahasiswa pada pemilihan karir yang berkualitas, sehingga dapat mencapai kematangan karir. Kematangan karir merupakan kesiapan individu untuk mengkhususkan diri dalam pilihan karir dan memilih karir yang sesuai dengan kemampuan, minat dan nilai-nilai. Kematangan karir seseorang dapat dipengaruhi oleh internal locus of control. Internal locus of control adalah individu yang cenderung percaya bahwa peristiwa yang dialami ditentukan oleh hasil dari kemampuan dan usahanya sendiri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan internal locus of control dengan kematangan karir pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik accidental sampling. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa tingkat akhir dari Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya dan sampel sejumlah 142 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hipotesis diterima, yang berarti ada hubungan positif internal locus of control dengan kematangan karir.
