Abstract

Electrical energy is an important requirement, all equipment requires electrical energy. As the population increases, the need for electrical energy is increasing, so that renewable energy is urgently needed. In the Surodadu Pacet Tourism Area, there is a 4-meter-high waterfall that has the potential to be used as a Micro-hydro Power Plant. So the researchers will design a micro-hydro device and analyze the effect of the number of blades and the angle of the Kaplan turbine blades on performance with the aim of getting the best variation. Methods in this study include making tools, data collection, and analysis. The variations used are the number of blades 3, 4, 5 and the angles of 40°, 50°, 60°. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the results of the performance of the micro-hydro device with a turbine with a variation of the number of blades 5 and the angle of the blades of 60° produce the greatest output power, namely 69.6 watts, resulting in the greatest turbine efficiency, namely 22.4%, and the largest PLTMH efficiency, namely 31.6%. This is because the incoming water can perfectly hit all parts of the turbine blades so that the thrust that occurs is greater, resulting in high rotation.
