Abstract
Economic development, especially in Indonesia, is still often faced with basic problems such as unemployment. Unemployment occurs due to the lack of maximum absorption of labor. Therefore, this study aims to determine how the influence of the number of industries, minimum wages, and investment on employment in the industrial sector in Gresik Regency. The analytical method used in this study is Multiple Regression Analysis using time series data from 2007-2021. The dependent variable in this study is the number of industries, minimum wages, and investment, while the independent variable is labor absorption. The results of this study indicate that simultaneously the three dependent variables in the study affect the independent variable with a significance of 0.001 < 0.05. While partially the minimum wage variable has a positive and significant effect with a significance value of 0.031 < 0.05, the number of industries partially has a positive and significant effect with a significance value of 0.02 < 0.05, while investment has no significant effect on employment in Gresik Regency with a significance value of 0.328 > 0.05. The minimum wage in Gresik Regency from year to year has experienced a steady increase, it can cause more people to be included in the workforce where workers are involved in labor absorption. Gresik Regency is one of 38 regencies/cities in East Java which is considered to have a fairly rapid industrial development rate where it can increase people's income and purchasing power so as to increase economic activities that can create employment opportunities and increase job opportunities. Investment realization in Gresik Regency is dominated by foreign investment which is used to build large industrial estates that are capital. Keywords: Labor, Wages, Industry, Investment.
