Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between workplace spirituality and work engagement. The research design used by the researcher is a correlational quantitative research. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a positive relationship between workplace spirituality and work engagement. The subjects in this study were employees of the Surabaya Pasarturi Train Depot PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) with the acquisition of 87 respondents. This study uses two kinds of scales, namely the work engagement scale based on the work engagement aspect of Schaufeli & Bakker (2003), and the workplace spirituality scale based on the workplace spirituality aspect of Petchsawang & Duchon (2009). Data analysis in this study used product moment correlation with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 16 and obtained a correlation score of 0.840 with a significance of p = 0.000 which means that there is a positive relationship between workplace spirituality and work engagement on employees of the Surabaya Pasarturi Train Depot PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). The positive relationship in question is that the higher the workplace spirituality score, the higher the work engagement and conversely the lower the workplace spirituality, the lower the work engagement. When employees find deep meaning with their work, employees will show a high level of engagement by showing enthusiasm, dedication, and full concentration on work.
