Abstract
Composite is a composite material composed of two or more different materials such as polymers, metals dan ceramics. Where are of them becomes a matrix and the other serves asan amplifier. Composite materials start much favored because it has properties of wear resistanse, corrosion resistanse, toughness tensile and strength. The purpose of the present study was to comparable changes in the shape, dimensions, distribution of hardness and microstructure of the propeller material of the composite aluminium 6061-aluminium oxide before and after the heat treatment process. Such as (solid solution) performed on 530 C for 2 hour, (quenching) with water cooling medium, salt water (brine), oil with different temperatures : room temperatures, 70 0 C and 110 0 C, and (aging) with temperature 180 0 0 C for 2 hour, then stays normally until roo, temperature returns. From the results of tests and measurements made that the variation of the type and temperature of the cooling medium affect the change in shape anddimensiuns, value, hardness increase after the heat treatment process. XRD microstructure testing showed thatthespecimens had different compositions and haddifferent value presentations from each specimen.
