Abstract

The presence on Facebook among adolescents, making one's private sphere with the public space. Culture shifts occurred among adolescents, teenagers do not hesitate to upload all their personal activities to be delivered to his friends via social media accounts in the form an idea about the identity of who they are. Teens are always devoting attention to the presentations themselves. Facebook makes the teens made online identity through user profiles, avatars and other online content seem to be the means of an integral part of the management of one's identity, lifestyle and social relationships. Based on the above mentioned background, researchers interested in conducting research with the title "the relationship of independence and self concept with assertive teen Facebook users". The population in this study are students at MUHAMMADIYAH JUNIOR 5 PUCANG Surabaya class VIII and XI of the entirety of the 90 students. Three questionnaires were applied to measure neuroticness, self concept, independence and asertivity. A multiple regression analysis was used as a statistical method. The results of the study showed there was a relationship self concept, independence and asertivity (F = 51, 40 and p = 0.00) and there were positive correlations between self concept and asertivity p = 0.02 (p < 0.05), there were positive correlation between independence and asertivity p = 0, 00 (p < 0.05).
