Abstract
Hand washing is an application of health protocols to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19. But sometimes the process of washing hands will be a problem and reduce the level of hand hygiene if it is not done properly and properly. So that many conventional hand washing tools have been developed into automatic technology with various innovations. The innovation of this research is a hand washing machine using an automatic scrubber made from microfiber which is driven by an electric motor. Where the electric motor will be transmitted directly by the chain and sprocket so that the roller shaft can rotate to increase efficiency during the hand washing process. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of the design and style that occurs in the hand washing machine transmission system which includes rollers, chains and sprockets. From these objectives, the research results obtained that the motor design uses 90 watts of power where the power produced is 85 watts, the roller design has a diameter of 13 mm with the resulting shear stress of 1,92 kg/mm2 which is smaller than the allowable shear stress of 2,88 kg/mm2, the design of the chain and sprocket has a force of 61.41 Kgf less than the maximum allowable load of 300 Kgf. The testing process is carried out by comparing the variables that have been determined in order to get the results of the level of hand hygiene that can be said to be feasible.
