Abstract

Abstrack, a transportation tool is one of the technological advancements that help humans in various daily activities in traveling to a place. One of the contributing factors of aggressive driving is empathy and self-control. When aggressive driving behavior arises, individuals who have a sense of empathy and self-control will be able to control their behavior. The purpose of this research is (1) to know the relationship between empathy and self-control with aggressive driving (2) to know the relationship between empathy and aggressive driving (3) to know the relationship between self-control and aggressive driving. Sampling technique in this research by using purposive sampling, with 100 students. This research data use an aggressive driving scale, self-control scale and empathy scale. Data analysis technique using multiple regression analysis. (1) A value of F = 43,371 with () = 0,000 is obtained. These results indicate that there is a significant relationship between empathy and self-control with aggressive driving tendencies. (2) Results of data analysis obtained t = -2,150 with () = 0,34. This result shows that there is a negative relationship between empathy and aggressive driving tendency. (3) The results of the analysis are obtained t = -5,871 with () = 0,000. This result shows that there is a negative relationship between self-control and aggressive driving tendency. The results of this study are expected to be able to contribute to the problem of aggressiveness in driving on the highway and provide insight into the importance of empathy and self-control in motorbike users in order to understand and consider properly and comply with existing traffic regulations to maintain mutual order.
