Abstract
Many individual Instagram social media users who want to show a good and perfect impression to othersand want to get good and positive feedback that will increase individual self-esteem. The behavior of uploading photos and updating status excessively in presenting themselves on Instagram is related to narcissistic tendencies. Narcissistic tendencies are a form of excessive self- love. Individuals who have narcissistic tendencies have signs that they always want to be admired by others. Instagram social mediausers tend to want to be seen looking perfect with what they publish. A person with narcissistic tendenciesneeds social networks, one of which is Instagram to seek attention and social support, so that they can increase their self-esteem. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem andnarcissistic tendencies with self presentation on Instagram users. The research design used by the researcher is a quantitative study with the participants involved are Instagram users with an age range of 18-24 years as many as 101 respondents. Analysis of the research data using multiple correlation techniques with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 25 and obtained a correlation score of 0.452 with a significance of p = 000. That is, there is a positive correlation or relationship between the variables of self-esteem and narcissistic tendencies with self-presentation. The higher the self-esteem and narcissistic tendencies, the higher the self- presentation. On the other hand, the lower self-esteem and narcissistic tendencies, the lower the self-presentation tendency. Keywords: Self-Esteem, Narcissistic Tendency, Self Presentation
