Abstract

Rama Kusuma is a Home Industry which is engaged in printing services which was established in March 2010 in the Jl. Petemon 4 No. 91 Surabaya, East Java. There are several types of products including: Block Notes, Notebooks, Yasin Books, Covers, Tickets, Notes, Mini Notes, Invitations. In the production process, Rama Kusuma has 6 workers. The problem of this research is that the demand is not fulfilled so that the company can fulfill the request by doing overtime. In this case Rama Kusuma Printing has never made a comparison to add new workers or add more overtime. With these problems, the research uses forecasting, Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Work Load Analysis (WLA). The results showed that the manufacturing time of 8 products was 9.41 minutes/note. Based on the MPS, the need for workers is as many as 10 workers only at work center 1, work center 2, work center 5, and work center 6 still using 1 worker and doing overtime while at work center 3 and work center 4 using 3 workers without doing any work. overtime and produce a production capacity of 12.242 units/month at a cost of Rp.22.960.000 and based on calculations on Work Load Analysis (WLA) as many as 11 workers without overtime and produce a production capacity of 13.467 units/month at a cost of Rp.26.400.000. The two calculations have different calculations of the number of workers, production capacity, and costs. But in the previous number there were 6 workers but only at work center 1 and work center 2 who did overtime so it was difficult to meet demand, but if subcontracted with an average product demand of 10,108 units/month the costs incurred were Rp.222.420.000. In terms of the number of workers and the costs that have been calculated, it would be better if the company applied the MPS calculation using 11 workers without overtime.
