Abstract

News about sexual violence in an educational environment often occurs today. The news becomes a phenomenal topic that is widely reported by mass media. The role of the mass media is very important in providing information as well as influencing public opinion. The researcher aims to research how the online media Kompas.com and Pikiran Rakyat.com frame the news about the rape of 12 female students by their teacher. The method used in this research is the theory used in this research is the analysis of the framing model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kociski. This study uses a qualitative descriptive. The results of the analysis show that there is a difference between the two online media, Kompas.com and Pikiran Rakyat.com in framing the news "The Rape of 12 Female Students by Islamic Boarding School Teacher". Kompas.com focuses on the incident experienced by the victim while Pikiran Rakyat.com focuses on the rape perpetrator. Keywords: Framing Analysis, Mass Media, rape
