Abstract

Powder metallurgy is a relatively new method and has several advantages over the casting method . However , this powder metallurgical prosess cannot completely replace the function of the casting method . Because each has advantages in i'ts method . This study determines the effect and variation of pressure and stirring time on the value of density , microstructure , and hardness . With the powder metallurgy method , the base material is a pure aluminum powder with the addition of copper powder . The pressure variations that the researchers used were 6000 , 6300 , and 6600 Psi . With a stirring time of 1 , 2 , and 3 minutes . For data collection , the researchers used density testing , microstructure testing , and hardness testing . From the results of this test , it was found that the greatest hardness value was at a pressure of 6300 Psi at a time of stirring for 2 minutes of 63.4 HRB , and the lowest hardness value was found at a pressure of 6000 Psi at a time of stirring for 3 minutes of 42.6 HRB . This shows that the pressure and stirring time greatly affect the value of density , microstructure , and hardness .
