Abstract

This study aims to determine and examine the relationship between the psychological impact of confinement and the tendency of domestic violence in terms of gender in the COVID-19 pandemic situation. This study uses quantitative research methods with 349 samples. The samples in this study were men and women, who were married aged 30-59 years, were or had worked from home, were or had accompanied their children school from home, and resided in Surabaya. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The research instrument used was a scale of domestic violence tendencies and the psychological impact of confinement. Collecting data using online surveys. The results of the Spearman's rho correlation analysis using SPSS version 20 show r= 0.824> 0.05, the value of sig. (2-tailed)= 0.0000.05. This means that there is a very significant relationship between the psychological impact of confinement with the tendency of domestic violence. The relationship between the two variables is said to be unidirectional (the correlation coefficient is positive), where the higher the psychological impact of confinement. the higher the tendency of domestic violence, and vice versa, the lower the psychological impact of confinement, the lower the tendency of domestic violence. The results of the Mann-Whitney U Test using SPSS version 20 show the value of asymp. sig. (2-tailed) tendencies of domestic violence 0.015 < 0.05. This means that there is a very significant difference in the tendency of domestic violence at the male and female. The mean test for the tendency of domestic violence found the mean male (83.59) > female mean (74.50) with a sig. 0.002 < 0.05.
