Abstract

Nowadays, Indonesian films are dominated by horror and comedy films less qualified. For that, the writer with high enthusiasm will analyze the contents of the film whose storyline raises the theme of friendship covered with stories of adventure, a sense of nationalism and dialogues poetic nuances and packaged in a romantic drama. This thesis research aims to find out what the message of friendship is contained in the film "5cm" and knowing the value of nationalism that contained in this film. This research uses a discourse analysis study which combined with semiotic models, representation and agenda setting theory.This research was conducted around six months starting in August 2013 - January 2014 qualitatively descriptive. The research results obtained are First, the message to be conveyed by Charles Sanders Pierce in his theory of semiotics, wants to show depiction of the younger generation who have shown the value of friendship and realize their dreams by upholding the values ​​of nationalism that which is highlighted in the film "5cm" Second, there is a good use of language and it's true that it's used in some of the dialogues in this “5cm” movie which is also is a practice of social form According to Fairclough and Wodak (1997). Third, McCombs and DL Shaw (1972) by including their ideology that if the media puts pressure on an event, then the media will influence the audience to perceive it as important. media that What is meant here is film. So what is considered important a film, it is also important for the general public. In this case the film is assumed to have very strong effect, especially since this assumption relates to the learning process not by changing attitudes and opinions. There's one important event going on in the film "5cm", which is on August 17, 1945, where on is commemorated as the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
