Abstract

Traditional market is a place or container that is identical with buying and selling of goods or services. Traditional markets emerge as human demands to meet the necessities of life. Activities that occur in traditional markets are very diverse and not only related to buying and selling activities. This is what distinguishes traditional markets from modern markets, namely interaction between participants in a more intensive and intimate market. The issue at the Tunjungan Market is known that the Surabaya City Government has budgeted for the redesign of the Tunjungan Market and included it in the APBD budget Surabaya worth IDR 10 billion. But Tunjungan Market has several the problem of buildings that are no longer suitable for use because they have been idle for too long without handling from the government. Irregular order of mass and circulation so there is no limit for the surrounding buildings to use tunjungan market as another function. Based on the potential and problems above, a solution is obtained in the form of: redesigning Surabaya's Tunjungan Market. Through the redesign of Tunjungan Market, you can become a place for products from the results of SMEs in Surabaya to compete widely in the commercial center area of ​​Surabaya.
