Abstract

Adolescence is a period where individuals grow into adults, have mental, physical and emotional maturity, where individuals can determine and find their identity by being accompanied by family, especially their parents, but teenagers who have divorced parents will experience emotional problems, reduced attention, low self-acceptance, trauma resulting from eating disorders, sleep patterns, trauma starting a relationship with the opposite sex, experiencing excessive emotional stress, this is due to the loss of one or both parents and required to live with relatives. This shows that teenagers whose parents divorced need an intervention or therapy to reduce trauma and increase self-acceptance and be able to accept their current condition. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of expressive writing therapy in reducing trauma and increasing self-acceptance in adolescent victims of divorce from parents. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that expressive writing therapy effectively reduces trauma and increases selfacceptance in adolescent victims of divorce. The sampling technique uses a purposive sampling technique and the data collection uses the Self-acceptance Jersild scale and the Kaplan trauma scale. The results of the study were tested with the SPSS statistical program using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranking analysis test showing that there was a significant reduction in trauma and increased selfacceptance from before and after the intervention in the form of expressive writing therapy in adolescent victims of divorce (p = 0.005, p < 0.05) , so that the proposed hypothesis is accepted, expressive writing therapy effectively reduces trauma and increases self-acceptance in teenage divorce parents.
