Abstract

The anxiety experienced by pregnant women first child due to the absence of clear picture of the labor process because the pregnant mother of the first child has never experienced a situation , so that pregnant womens have the perception that childbirth is a painful and terrible event. The study aims to find out the relationship between social support and anxiety of childbirth on first time pregnant womens. This study uses quantitative methods to achieve research objectives. The research subjects used in this study in one of the pregnant yoga studios in Surabaya , contains 70 pregnant womens. The technique of taking samples used in this study is Purposive Sampling. Measuring instruments use the social support scale with anxiety of childbirth on first time pregnant womens scale. The research data is analyzed using product moment correlation. The results of the product moment correlation coefficient are = -0,602 at the significance level (p) = 0.00 < 0.01, which means there is a very significant negative relationship between social support and anxiety of childbirth on first time pregnant womens. So that the goodness of social support can affect the tendency of anxiety of chilbirth on first time pregnant womens. Hypothesis that reads there is a link between social support with anxiety of childbirth on first time pregnant womens is received.
