Abstract

Students are required to be able to independently complete the tasks given. The assignments given are lecture assignments, examinations, and the last is a thesis. The behavior of students who often delay doing work is called Procrastination. Procrastination comes from Latin, namely "pro" which means "advanced", forward, prefers and "crastinus" which means "tomorrow" (Steel, 2006). According to Bandura, the notion of self efficacy in general, namely personal beliefs or selfconfidence about how well a person can take the actions needed to deal with a future situation (Bandura, 1995). Previous research proves that if student selfefficacy is high, the level of academic procrastination tends to be low. Conversely, if student self-efficacy is low, the level of academic procrastination tends to be high. Based on the research conducted during one June to July 2019 the researchers distributed 140 questionnaires to 140 2015 Psychology students from the University of Surabaya on August 17, 1945. The researcher used a Likert scale measuring device in data retrieval. Likert scale is used to obtain data on the relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination in the 2015 Psychology students of the 17 Agustus 1945. Based on the analysis of data using Product Moment analysis assisted by the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program for Windows obtained the rxy correlation coefficient -0.685 with significance p= 0.000 < 0.01. This means that there is a significant negative relationship between selfefficacy and academic procrastination.
