Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing number of young marriages in Indonesia, especially in East Java. This province is classified as having a high enough number in the index of young marriage. One effect that occurs after a married couple at a young age are 1) Couples who marry young do not know how to assume responsibility. They are still young in thinking and still have to learn about marriage, 2) When teens get married young, their youth will be disrupted, the brand can no longer enjoy freedom because it is bound in marriage and responsibility, 3) Too early pregnancy can affect life adolescent girls, because they have not been able to undergo the stress of childbirth and parenting, this does not only affect physical health, but also emotionally. The role of emotions is very important in the process of marriage at a young age. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional maturity and self-adjustment in young married couples. This research was conducted on 32 subjects who were married at a young age. The data collection method uses a scale of emotional maturity and adjustment scale that was prepared by researchers with a Likert model. Based on the results of the product moment correlation test assisted with the SPSS for windows program, the correlation coefficient (r) = 0.989 with a significance value (p) = 0.000 <0.05, means that there is a very strong and significant positive relationship between emotional maturity and self-adjustment a married couple young.
