Abstract

Typology is the science of character about the part of humans in groups according to their respective character traits. This research specifically examines the characteristics of the characters, then classified them into their personality types. The data source of this research is a manga entitled Blue Exorcist Volume 1 by Kazue Katou. The data is in the form of conversation pieces between characters in a manga or a snippet from a manga that contains behavior characters in expressing feelings as a form of character and personality. This research uses descriptive qualitative method and literature study with a psychological approach. The purpose of this research is to describe various character traits in manga and then characterize character traits in their personality types using theory Gerard Heymans' typology of personality. The results showed 18 conversational data or pictures with 13 kinds of traits in the 4 characters in the manga. After analysis found 6 types of personality classification of the 8 personality types belonging to Gerard Heymans. Among them, Shiro Fujimoto's character has the Gapasioneerden personality type and Flegmaciti, Rin Okumura's character has a Sentimental personality type and Nerveuzen, Yukio Okumura's character has the Sanguinici personality type, and Satan's character has an Amorpheme personality type.
