Abstract
In the current progress and development, understanding of science is very important, one of which is composite science which continues to develop in an applicative manner. This final project aims to analyze how much influence the addition of coal fly ash has on the mechanical properties of the epoxy resin hardener matrix. The method of making epoxy resin hardener composites is mixed with a ratio of 10:4 stirred using a mixer, then fly ash is added as much as 10%, 20%, 30% with variations in speed of 100 rpm, 150 rpm, 200 rpm. The composite material was cast with a weight of 40 kg which served to compact the composite material. From the results of the analysis of the bending test data, the bending stress value at 200 rpm rotation with a mixture of 20% has a maximum value of 54.44 MPa, and the highest value of the modulus of elasticity is 2.79 GPa. From the results of SEM observations of Composite Specimens, the bending test with fly ash reinforced coal affects the bending strength because there are several failure modes that affect the composite specimen, namely stirring rotation, pouring or the like, voids, and fragile particle. In Taguchi Method Optimum Flexural Strength in epoxy composite with 30% fly ash reinforcement at 150 rpm stirring speed for 20 minutes.
