Abstract

In the current progress and development, understanding of science is very important, one of which is composite science which continues to develop in an applicative manner. This final project aims to analyze how much influence the addition of coal fly ash has on the mechanical properties of the epoxy hardener resin matrix. The method of making epoxy hardener resin composites is mixed with a ratio of 10:4 stirred using a mixer, then 10% fly ash is added with variations in speed of 100 rpm, 150 rpm, 200 rpm. The composite material was cast with a weight of 40 kg which served to compact the composite material. From the results of the tensile test analysis where the tensile stress value in fly ash 10% with a rotation of 200 rpm has a maximum strength value of 25.23 Mpa. And from the results of the modulus of elasticity in fly ash 20% with a stirring rotation of 100 rpm and 150 rpm, it has the same value of 0.52 GPa while the strain on 10% fly ash at 150 rpm has a strain value of 5.58%. From the results of SEM observations of composite specimens, tensile test specimens reinforced with coal fly ash (fly ash) affect the tensile strength because there are several failure modes that affect composite specimens such as voids, and fragile particles. In the Taguchi method, the optimum tensile strength of epoxy composites with 20% fly ash was applied at a stirring speed of 100 rpm for 20 minutes.
