Abstract

The design of the Jetis Batik Center with an Architectural Approach Tangible Metaphor in Sidoarjo is a building that functions to produce, display and conduct training or administration related to batik as well as to follow and collect batik, while protecting and developing batik as a social heritage to improve the situation, as well as add contribution to Sidoarjo district. (In the fields of tourism, culture, and trade). The tangible metaphor approach was chosen to bring out the nuances of batik directly and answer design problems about how to plan a jetis batik center that can present batik, especially Sidoarjo batik through an assembling-educational process and following the development of batik appropriately so that it will truly shape the character of the batik city area emerging in more modern thought.
