Abstract

Melihat beberapa waktu ke belakang hingga kini, kekuatan pembaharuan menjadi salah satu momok bagi masyarakat, perkembangan teknologi serta globalisasi jelas tidak terhindarkan terutama dalam ranah budaya. Semakin majunya perkembangan teknologi serta ilmu pengetahuan, terutama di bidang komunikasi mendorong peningkatan intensitas kontak – kontak budaya satu dengan budaya lain secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Maka dari itu penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi antarbudaya dalam proses akulturasi antara kaum urban dengan masyarakat lokal di Stasiun Kopi Sidoarjo. Pada pembahasan ini peneliti melakukan penelitian terkait bagaimana akulturasi dapat terjadi melalui proses komunikasi antarbudaya yang terjadi di Stasiun Kopi Sidoarjo antara kaum urban dengan masyarakat lokal. Dalam proses komunikasi antarbudaya yang terjadi antara kaum urban dengan masyarakat lokal di Stasiun Kopi Sidoarjo, teori lain yang menjadi penunjang adalah teori pengurangan ketidakpastian atau yang biasa disebut teori interaksi awal yang dikemukakan oleh Charles Berger dan Ricard Calabresse, serta terdapat teori lain yaitu teori pertukaran sosial. Banyaknya pelanggan dengan berbagai latar belakang budaya yang terdapat di Stasiun Kopi Sidoarjo menyebabkan adanya kontak antara satu budaya dengan budaya lain sehingga menyebabkan akulturasi budaya dapat terjadi. Antara kaum urban maupun masyarakat lokal sama – sama memberikan kontribusi dalam akulturasi yang terjadi di Stasiun Kopi Sidoarjo.
