Abstract

Resilience is a person's ability to survive and not give in to difficult situations in his life, as well as trying to adapt and rise to unpleasant circumstances and become better. This study aims to determine the positive relationship between emotional regulation and social support with resilience in the families of post-stroke patients at Waluyo Jati Hospital. The subjects in this study were families who cared for post-stroke patients at Waluyo Jati Hospital, totaling 119 people. The data of this study were obtained by giving questionnaires to subjects who met the participant requirements. This research method uses a quantitative approach with the scale used using the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire / ERQ questionnaire (Gross & John, 2003), the resilience scale is based on Reivich and Shatte's theory of Resilience (2002) and the social support scale is based on the Social Support theory of Smet (1994). To test the research hypothesis, the analytical technique uses the Multiple Regression Analysis test using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16.00 for windows program. The results of this study indicate that there is a very significant positive relationship between emotional regulation and the resilience of families caring for post-stroke patients at Waluyo Jati Hospital, with a coefficient value of = 0.433 with a significant value of p = 0.000 (<0.01). Furthermore, the results of the study showed that there was a very significant positive relationship between social support and the resilience of families caring for post-stroke patients at Waluyo Jati Hospital, with a coefficient value of = 0.466 with a significant value of p = 0.000 (<0.01). The results also show that emotional regulation and social support together affect resilience in families of stroke survivors with a score of rxy=0.552 with sig.=0.00.
