Abstract
In this time composite materials have developed very rapidly as a way to find alternative materials. Composite with polyprophylene matrix has been widely used in industrial fields because of its lightweight and strong composite properties. Coal base ash is industrial waste from combustion residue and is only piled up in the factory area ash disposal, which will cause problems for the environment. The method of making composites, polypropylene is melted in a mixer with a temperature of 170 o C for 50 minutes. Then the base ash of coal is 10%, slowly added while stirring in a heating stove for 30 minutes at a speed of 20 rpm. Then given a hold time of 0, 30 and 60 minutes. After each end of time the casting of the composite material into the mold is held, then pressurized 25 kgf/cm 2 for 5 minutes. Cold composite material is removed and formed by machining so that its size complies with tensile and bending testing standards. Specimens were tested for tensile and bending and fault observations through SEM. The best test results of tensile test specimens in the 50-80 mesh with a holding time of 0 minutes have a value of 40,684 N/mm , while the best Bending test results on the 150-180 mesh with a holding time of 30 minutes have a value of 105,303 N/mm 2 . 2
