Abstract

Traffic accidents at railroad crossings often occur lately in Indonesia. The accident has caused many casualties both injured and died as well as a number of other material losses. The cause of the accident to the absence of the crossing door, or the failure of the door to close when needed or the operator's failure to order the closing of the crossing door (human error). In order to reduce these accidents it is necessary for each crossing to be given a crossing gate. And to reduce human error, the door should work automatically. For this reason, it is necessary to develop technology that is able to overcome this problem. This journal intends to describe a prototype of the technology of its own design in the form of an automatic railroad crossing gate. The main components used in this system are and radio frequency communication technology (FR modules). Based on the trial results it turns out that this tool works well. The door can close automatically if there is a train going by. Conversely, if the train has passed then the door will open automatically. Implementation of this tool at a location that actually requires the availability of electrical energy sources back and forth. Therefore this tool needs to be developed further so that it can be operated with an electrical energy source using batteries or solar cells. Keywords : Train, Microcontroller
