Abstract

This research focuses on bisexuality in the novel Call Me by Your Name by Andre Aciman. The objective of this study are to find symptoms, factors and personality structure of Elio and Oliver’s bisexuality.The writer applies intrinsic and exstrinsic approach. The analysis is divided into three main problems and this analysis uses the concepts of sexuality, sexual orientation theory, concept of bisexuality, queer and personality structure which are related to the male characters in the novel. This thesis analyzes how bisexuality is reflected in male characters in novels such as Elio Perlman and Oliver. The writer also finds two causes of Elio bisexual because of internal factors and external factors. The third is personality structure, the writer finds that Elio Parlman a 17 year old has an abnormal sexual orientation, pursuing a relationship with Oliver. Despite how much they enjoy spending time together, Oliver is nervous about taking things too far, both because Elio is younger and because Oliver is fearful about potential social prejudices. Elio keeps pushing, however, testing his limits with Oliver, and trying to turn their casual flirtations into something more. Less experienced romantically, Elio struggles to figure out how to express his feelings to Oliver, Elio and Oliver have an unbalance personality structure their ego is dominated by the id.
