Abstract

Abstract. This study intend to determine the relationship between self- confidence and conformity with consumptive behavior in career womens. The subjects of this study were career women who had worked on area Dharmahusada the city of Surabaya as many as 200 subjects. The result was conducted by distributing questionnaires with non-probablity sampling. The correlation technique used to determine the relationship between the variables of self-esteem, conformity and consumptive behavior is the Multiple Linear Regression technique with parametric statistics. The results of the study prove that (1) there is a significant relationship between self-confidence and conformity with consumptive behavior in career women (Rxy = 0.439, R2 = 0.192, p = 0.004); (2) there is no relationship with negative and significant contribution between self-confidence and consumptive behavior in career women (beta = -0.625, t = -0.169, p = 0.048); (3) there is a positive and significant relationship between conformity and consumptive behavior in career women (beta = 0.646, t = 2.767, p = 0.008). This shows that the second hypothesis is rejected and the first and third hypotheses are accepted. Keywords: confidence, conformity, consumptive behavior, career women.
