Abstract

This thesis primarily analyses the translation of the verb have in Indonesian translation In Veronica Roth‟s Divergent (2011). The writer uses English novel by Veronica Roth‟s entitled Divergent (2011) and its Indonesian version entitled Divergent as the data source. The aim of this study is to find the translation of verb have for SL to TL using Mona Baker‟s strategy of translation. The writer uses qualitative descriptive study as the data collected deal with the description and discussion of the data by identifying the sentences, which contain of the categories of verb have and finding out what they will be. Having analyzed the data, the writer found out that there are 130 data which consists of 34 data possession,4 data Experiencing, 16 data Showing or Displaying, 3 data Taking or Accepting Somebody, 8 data Performing Action, 6 data Receiving or Undergoing, 1 data Producing and 2 data used in Causing or Allowing Something to Happen, Command 3 data, Collocation 17 data, Hyponym by it self 5 data and Hyponym by Experience 1 data. The Word have data will be analyzed because the translation is translated into mempunyai, memiliki, ada, memegang, punya as the verb have in TL. The verb “have” also has a meaning in affix and suffix ber and nya. The non-equivalent data will be analyzed from Mona Baker‟s.
